Community Council Meeting 10.2.19

 

Attendees: Neisha Rowley, Chris Whetton, Scott Slater, Cathy Wall, Joanne Hobbs, Julie Clark (reading specialist to go over data referring to last plan)

 

Welcome/Introductions/Membership:

Council members introduced themselves

 

Goal Report Prior Year Plan

-Went over amendment to change PLTW to LA goal and purchase 10 Reading Horizons kits to help improve LA scores.  (originally voted on by Leadership Team)

-Julie Clark shared achievements from Dibels data (goals and achievements).  We met our goals and were well above the district levels

-Reviewed Tier 1, 2, and 3 instruction that will accompany Reading Horizons phonics instruction

-went over budget discrepancies from previous year.  Budgets will be part of the monthly discussion to make sure that it is all being allocated correctly.

-Grant from Reading Horizons allowed to cover some of the discrepancies that occurred in that same area from Trustlands

 

TSSA Plan

-New this year that has been allocated on a state level.  Talked about how it came to be and how our district has decided to divide that up amongst the schools. 

-LA and math plans put in place.  DIbels was bought out by another company and now includes math component. 

-Robotics 

-STEAM will continue and continue to grow

-next year’s plan will be discussed with community council for the next year

 

New Council Information

-safety component (new this year).

-pickup/dropoff of students at the school. Where and how this is happening. FInding solution for parents walking students through the bus area to pick them up

-Crosswalk placement and keeping Orchard Springs kids in separate area

-Digital Citizenship in place (CIPA training)

-Internet safety and close monitoring (have tech services come present at a future meeting) 

-Discussion of personal devices and using them properly as a school and on a personal level
